Baby it's Cold Outside.

I am in the midst of the most busy days of the year working on art for an album, getting Christmas gifts together, cooking, cleaning, and keeping up new and old relationships.
So today I bought myself christmas gifts.
I have a new scanner so from now on the scan quality of my work will no longer be a giant stress looming over my head.
And I got one of the items from my list in my previous post.  If you know me then you know how excited I am about my new shoes...
And that I HATE cold weather.  Good thing it is going to be 70 on Christmas.  That I can deal with.

My Grown Up Christmas List

I needed so practice with ink, so I did a sketchbook Christmas List.

A Majolica Tea Set and the Perfect Pair of Shoes

Mark Jacobs Flamingo Mouse Dress and Mouse Flats and a Watch

Dolce & Gabbana Regina Coat and Prada PR 18IS Sunglasses

My Future Scottish Terrier

and this guy.....

...and I found this book today...
The Big Fat Duck Cookbook by Heston Blumenthal including over 60 illustrations by Dave McKean.  This book is a monster and I am wondering who, other than Martha Stewart, can afford a $250 cookbook.  Below is a piece of McKean's work from the book.
Just reminding myself of all the things I want and can not have.  It's like getting a giant sirynge full of "work harder" "think smarter"  and "aim higher".

It's a Wicked Life, But What The Hell. The Stars Ain't Fallin' Down.

I am on a Bob Dylan kick.  Here is one of the pieces I completed at The Illustration Academy this summer.  This was Gary Kelley's assignment, illustrate the color blue.  An interesting tidbit of information:  When Bob Dylan was writing a song (which he explains as cubism in lyrical form)  he immersed himself in Joni Mitchell's Blue.  This piece is about Dylan quite literally and figuratively tangled up in Blue.  I want to re-do the piece in a different style.

Vote.

"So it is not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."  -Sen. Barack Obama

Graduation and The End of Photo113

I was sure at several points during this quarter that out of all my classes, the 100 level class would be the end of me.  I am happy to report, it was not.
here are my favorite examples from my final portfolio.

After this post I, hopefully, will be back to posting strictly illustration work, I am rather sidetracked at the moment.

Jacques Cousteau and Escargot

I completed this piece a few weeks ago. It is based on a vision I had before I went to sleep one night of a line of snails jumping in an open mouth.  Jacques Cousteau seemed the logical candidate for a French Cuisine poster.

Blogs after the age of 16...Who Knew?

After a 5 year or so hiatus I decided to get back to sharing what I am doing with the world.
I was recently accepted to the Illustration Academy and I am preparing for the next three months of complete chaos.  I am preparing my promotional materials, my website, getting ready for graduation and the busiest 7 weeks of my life at the academy.
Here are a few of my business cards. Hopefully you will be lucky enough to get one.
